Powered IS
Enjoy long-range shooting with powerful image stabilization. Powered IS controls camera shake by increasing the shake compensation in the low frequency spectrum (slow shaking). Simply press the Powered IS button to activate Powered IS mode.
Touch screen colour LCD with new touch features .
Face detection, Touch & Track, Touch focus and touch exposure functions use screen touch operation to replace the operations previously carried out via a joystick. This ensures that users not miss any shooting opportunities and have unrestricted choice of subject composition.
Smart Auto mode .
The camcorder automatically recognizes what kind of scenes and subjects you're shooting based on the presence of people, the distance to subjects, and brightness, color, motion information. The advanced auto shooting mode function entrust detailed settings to the camcorder, similar to the shooting modes already available in Canon's range of PowerShot & Digital IXUS cameras.
Each time the Record button is pressed, a 4 seconds clip is captured. Simply add your clips to a playlist, select a soundtrack, and you're instantly ready to watch your movie on a TV - no need for editing. New video snapshot recording length of 2, 4, or 8 seconds has been added to the video snapshot mode. The new Legria camcorders have a new function which controls the playback and stopping of video snapshots while working in tandem with an external sound source (music player)

DIGIC DV III supports x.v.Colour for deeper, richer hues when movies are played back on compatible HD TVs. 25p Cinema Mode matches the look of traditional film, and provides enhanced low-light shooting performance.
Still shooting

A dedicated Photo mode allows users to capture high resolution still images, up to 3.11MP. In Dual Shot mode, 2.99MP stills can be shot during video recording. Photo Burst grabs 25 stills from a single second of recorded footage.
